Crossing the Street at Kumamoto-Jo
A simple shot as we waited to cross the street on September.  Right after we stopped by the monument of Yokoi Shonan, A famous scholar who helped in the Meiji Restoration.  What followed was a trip to the shrines outside of Kumamoto Castle.  Earlier that day we also went to the Kumamoto Traditional Crafts museum, where we got a first-hand experience at bamboo weaving.

Hand-Crafted Cups and Plates
These are the works of the class at a traditional Japanese pottery shop in the Japanese countryside.  In mid November we sat down and worked at making hand-sculpted cups, bowls and plates.  We were then treated to some coffee, tea and chesnuts after our hard work.

Traditional Fan Dancing
The last craft we were treated to this semester, in mid-December.  Learning how to dance with a Japanese folding fan.  This was definitely harder and more confusing than it sounded.
